WE PREPARE TO WORSHIP GOD

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”   -- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

PRELUDE

WELCOME

INTROIT

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively, from Psalm 71)

Lord, I have come to you for protection. Never let me be defeated!

Because you are righteous you rescue me.

Listen to me and save me!

Be my strong fortress to protect me.

You are my refuge and my defense.

Your righteousness reaches to the skies!

*HYMN:  #88    “Come, Thou Almighty King”    Sing Joyfully Hymnal

PRAYER OF INVOCATION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison)

Most Gracious God, we know that love is patient but we are in a hurry.  We become irritated when nothing is happening.  We know that love is kind but we remain hostile.  We know that love is not jealous or boastful, yet we flaunt our achievements in front of everyone else.  You have shown us the love that forgives imperfections.  We have failed to forgive those who have hurt us.  Help us to forsake our childish ways.  Guide us in the way of your abundant love.  For this gift we pray in the name of your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ…

Children are especially important to this congregation.  We don’t mind their minor disruptions and movements.  If your child becomes more active than is comfortable for you or those around you, we have a nursery located in the lower level where the worship service can still be heard.
